So Dan is feeling much better, almost back to normal! He's eating just fine but sometimes he still gets a really sore stomach for no apparent reason.

We've had some really amazing weather the last week. We got almost a foot of snow! Dan had to put up a tent to keep the snow off of his work area.

The weather was warm enough for a while that we were able to get another section of the deck done. The front deck is all finished.

I took Halicia out in the snow - she has never shoveled snow before let alone this much!

It is back to -20 outside so we're working on the inside of the house. We're working on tiling the kitchen so our fridge is in the livingroom! :) makes for some interesting cooking.

All the trim and crown in the house is done! Dad did a great job.

Almost looks like a kitchen out of a magazine doesn't it? (The blue dishwasher won't be blue forever)

The tile now goes all the way back to the bathroom. Trouble is we now have bridges all over the place! Makes it interesting to walk around. We have no stove so supper was on the bbq - which means Dan had to carry plates, balance on a board, and try to open the door! Oh yeah, and we ran out of propane half way through so Dan changed the tank while the food got cold and had to start cooking all over again!

Not House Related #3

I guess in a way these posts are house related becuase what goes on in our lives affects the speed at which we accomplish things on the house. With Dan and me being busy with this lately Dad has been able to get a lot of house stuff done. I'll be taking some pictures and updating that here in the next day or so.
As for Dan he walks, talks, and lives! He fell asleep early early in the evening yestruday and slept through most of the night. At about 2am he got up and had a banada, granola bar, and apple juice! That's a lot seeming he ate nothing for over 24 hours. Then he slept through till about 8:30 this morning. He woke up with some energy and not feeling too bad at all. He forced down a pancake (that was tempting fate seeming as Dad was the one cooking them) and a sausage. He took it slow this morning watching Ice Road Truckers but he did manage to fold the laundry. He walks under his own power but to do anything for more than 10 minutes just drains him. He's trying not to take too much graval.
He was maybe even going to brave vamuuming for me this afternoon in short bursts. So all and all he's on the mend. Still no big meals or anything too hard to digest but he is doing really well. And I'm sure even once he's 100% he'll be sucking up all the couch time he can get. :)

Not House Related #2

Thanks so much for everyone's emails and texts. Dan is now home and sound alseep in bed. Around six this evening the doctors said he was allowed to go home. They spent the afternoon pumping him full of meds to settle out his stomach so they could get some liquid into him. These drugs made him really jittery and on edge. He was very miserable and stir crazy all evening. But they finally were able to get some water into him and he kept it down. Then they got apple juice and a while later even milk. They decided he was healthy enough to come home but has strick orders to head back if the pain returns like before. So the official diagnosis is 'stomach flue"... I honestly don't know any flu that could ever be that bad! But all his tests were clear, even the infection that showed on his blood test when he was admitted has cleared up.
He got home and sat up at the couch with us for a while. He took a lap around the kitchen to make sure he was feeling up to it then headed down to the shower. After that he took some graval (the docs gave him some strong stuff just in case). This knocked him out pretty good and now he is sound alseep. I'll update everyone again sometime tomorrow morning.
Thanks again for all your emails! (And thanks to his boss for giving him the whole weekend off!).

Not House Related

You might have heard by now that Dan's been in Emergency all night and all day today. He got home from work yesterday and was feeling a little dizzy so he went to lay down. By the time I got home from work an hour later he was fevered, throwing up, and deathly pale (as white as I have ever seen a person). I tried to get him to drink but he wouldn't. Dad and I went out for supper (no way to eat here when all you hear is throwing up and the smell wafting down the stairs). I text him the whole time we were gone and he kept getting worse. Just as we were getting home he passed out in the bathroom. Then he passed out in bed in the middle of talking to me. So I took him to the ER. We went to City Hospital (downtown). They tried to draw blood and start an IV about ten pokes later they finally got it. He was so dehydrated he had no vanes. They gave him morphine and then something to stop the throwing up (that didn't really stop it). We were there for three hours and then they told us there were going to transfer us to St. Paul's Hospital (on our side of the city) because City closes at night. So we got a ambulance ride over there (they wouldn't turn the sirens on for me though). We got to the hospital but their were so many people they had no bed for Dan. He got to lay on the ambulance gerne in a back hallway with four other people they had transferred from City Hospital. When the first bed was available we got it even though the others were there before us (because they needed to get Dan on more drugs and it was getting too hard to administer them in the hallway). So by about midnight we were in a room and waiting for the next doctor to come see us. More blood was drawn, more drugs given. By two am the doc came and ordered x-rays of Dan's stomach for him. At this point one set of blood had come back and said he had an infection (white blood cell count was high). I went home at this point so Dan could get some sleep. When I came back in the morning he was getting an ultrasound. He was feeling not too bad and was even able to walk a few steps (which is amazing because he could not even sit up with the doctors help last night). But he soon turned from bad to worse and they started pumping meds again. They ultrasound and x-ray were clear. So the doctor decided this afternoon to start trying to give some water (he had not had anything to eat or drink since noon yesterday). But after half a cup of water and a little apple juice he threw up again. So they pumped him full of a lot more meds. So that is where we sit right now. I'm home again just getting some rest before headed back this evening. They have no idea when they will be able to send him home. We thought he would come home this afternoon but if he can't even hold down water he's going to get dehydrated and sent right back. So far all we know is that it is not his appendix, not his gull bladder, not an ulcer. It may be a flue or food poisoning (not my fault) but the longer dan stays sick the less likely these are. So the doctors are stumped right now as to what to do. They are going to try him on liquids again this evening and we'll see where that takes us.

Oh yeah, and on top of not sleeping much last night because I was up with Dan; the night before Emint was up throwing up all night because he chewed a bone into little sharp pieces. It's been some week!
